How to Define Reinforcement for Concrete Columns and Beams

RISAFloor, RISA-3D, and RISAFoundation by default will design and place reinforcement per strength and other code requirements. This is great for new construction. For existing construction, or for checking a design, we give the capability to define your own reinforcement layout.

To do this, go to Modify > Create and Edit a Rebar Layout:

Here we can define the size, location, and number of bars. We break this into Beam, Column and Shear Rebar layouts. Once these layouts have been defined, you simply need to apply these layouts to the members in your model. You can do this by either the Modify >Design dialog, or the Members/Beams/Columns spreadsheets in the Concrete sections.

At solution the program will do the same strength, spacing and As min checks that it does when it optimizes the reinforcement.
